  1. My maternal grandparents, Alonzo & Mildred Getz, owned a home formerly known as “Happy Harbor” on the Sassafras. My mother sold it years ago and the owner turned it from a home to business… unfortunately it had a fire. I’ve been told the owners of the Granary (sp?) Restaurant own Happy Harbor now. I might have a vintage postcard of Happy Harbor if you’re interested in a scanned image. My grandfather added a few additions to the house over the years. I only wish my mother had been able to keep that house as I have MANY found memories of this town from my childhood, including running across the bridge to the other side (before they upgraded it), canoeing and sailing, learning to water-ski… ah, memories!
